Inspired by a desire to fight Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) in
the Baltimore area in the fall of 2007, B-More Dog (the Baltimore
Dog Owners Guild) is a group of friends who came together to tell
the truth about pit bulls and the stigma thrust upon them, and to
restore the American Pit Bull Terrier to its deserved place as
beloved family pet, and all-purpose working dog.
Pit bulls and their owners are fighting for their rights
and reputations right now. Pit bulls face abuse, neglect, torture,
and overbreeding by people who do not have the dogs' best interests
at heart; their owners face negative stereotypes and prejudices,
simply because they choose to own pit bulls. B-More Dog's board and
members are responsible dog owners, and our goal is to encourage
other dog owners to be responsible for their pets as well. We hope
that through education, mentoring, and outreach, we can help pit
bull owners become better ambassadors for our breed and eventually
reduce some of the misunderstandings about pit bulls and the people
who love them.
We believe, and facts support, that incidents involving problem
dogs lead directly back to their owners, and therefore the solution
to minimizing these occurrences lies not with banning the dogs, but
with educating the owners. While many of us own and love American
Pit Bull Terriers, we believe responsible dog ownership should be
priority for all breeds. We hope you'll join us in this fight, by
becoming a member ($25 annually) or by donating time or funds to
our cause.
