Diesel reminds me of my Harley girl that passed in '01, same spotting and coloring, only her patch was on the opposite eye and oh she loved the beach.

The spring before she passed in July she got to visit and swim in the ocean for the last time. There was an older couple laying on the beach that day and as we were leaving, she gave me this questionable look and I Knew what she wanted, so I said go ahead. She ran back to those people doing a zoomie around their blanket and kicking up sand and gave them both a kiss good-bye. They laughed and I couldn't have loved her more in that moment, she was such an intuitive girl and we knew each others thoughts.

I hate dog parks! I hate taking my dogs to Patterson Park because someone always lets their off leash dogs approach my dogs and my male is does not like to be confronted. Sebastian started off as a rescue and we officially adopted him after we had a couple returns. I will definately have to invite you to some of our spots. We rarely do anything in the city with the dogs, we like to go to the county.

What got you interested in pit bulls?
My friend once found a litter from a neighbor that we all knew very well knew would not be taken care of. The litter was kept in a rabbit cage, the woman had 9 kids, and the yard was FULL of feces, while the kids were running barefoot around in it. My boyfriend really wanted a puppy for a long time, and the price was right, so he got the dog. Actually all of our friends each took a dog from this litter to make sure that the puppies would not be brought up to fight or possibly die. At this point, I was still skeptical about getting a Pitbull. My worries worsened when we would play with her as a puppy and hear those powerful jaws snap. I was quite frankly terrified of her. I knew though, we were in it for the long haul - so at that point I learned everything I could about the breed. I subscribed to sites, ordered books, did anything I could think of at the time. I made sure that as a puppy she was constantly exposed to other dogs - big and small - and small children. I am ashamed to admit that I wanted to give her up so many times when I would come home and a couch was eaten, a flat computer screen, a digital camera, countless pairs of shoes, etc etc etc. The trouble was, no toys could compete with her ability to chew chew chew. My boyfriend and I then broke up, and where he was moving, he could not take her. He was going to give her to his dad who would probably give her a heart attack within a year with all the burgers and crap he would feed her. I didn't have a choice but to take her to make sure she received the utmost care. On our own I kind of played drill sergeant, only to learn that when you take the time to train them, Pitbulls are extremely fast learners. She now is the sweetest dog, she is so loving and caring and only looking to please me. She definitely think of me as her mommy and I couldn't be happier with her as my baby. I miss her when I am gone. I can't wait to come home and get my kiss and hug (literally) from her. She gives me the best greeting any owner could hope for. I wouldn't consider any other breed but a Pitbull any longer.
What are some of your favorite things people have said about your pit bull?
People pull up to me all the time as we are walking down the road asking to breed her (of course I won't), however to hear left and right how beautiful she is is music to my ears. Even better is when people meet her and I get complimented on her demeanor, her loyalty, her gentleness, her obedience, and the fact that she is incredibly smart! She has this ability to show all of her emotions. You can tell by the way her mouth is shaped if she is happy or sad, or lonely. She is such a Princess. She will not go to sleep unless you tuck her in in her bed under the covers. If she is tired and you are still downstairs, she just sits on the stairs and cries until you tuck her in. She will not go outside in the rain or snow - she doesn't like getting her feet or head wet. If she is not getting enough attention, she knocks things over with her nose. She has this microplush frog (that I naturally expected her to chew immediately), something happened when she felt the fabric that I can't explain. She carries this thing in her mouth with her WHEREVER she goes. If she goes to the bathroom, if she eats, if she sleeps - this thing has to be with her. I have finally taught her that if she leaves it at the door when she goes out, it will be there when she comes back. She will bring it up to you and set it on your lap and cry if you don't pet the Frog. It is so wild, I've never seen anything like it. She absolutely LOVES to sunbath. First thing she does in the summertime when she wakes up it go outside, and sit on the lounge chair for hours! I often have to remind her that she has to drink some water. She normally doesn't like to so I have to bring out ice slushies or chicken popsicles to make sure she is getting fluids. She loves loves loves to be warm. She will sometimes take a break, come in a eat, and then need to go back outside. She really is the silliest dog I've ever had. It's like she sees everything I do, and she MUST mimic it. She is my little Mini Me.
What do you think is the best way to fight Breed Specific Legislation?
The best way to fight it would be to educate society on the breeds.
