What got you interested in pit bulls?

Well I researched for almost 2 years. At the time I didnt have a dog. I had two Greyhounds and a Weenie dog while living with my parents. Once I moved out I wanted a dog that I could call my own. I debated getting a pit bull because I like many was uneducated about them and thought they where mean and unpredictable! I did my research and fell in love! There was a Bark In the Park one year in NC where I lived. I went there with a friend of mine who had a pit mix. I got to meet a few pit bulls that where up for adoption and instantly feel in love! A few months later my boyfriend and I got our own place and found out through our neighbors that there was a BYB (Back Yard Breeder) who lived across the street from us. He was using his dogs for fighting dogs, and also breeding and selling them to whom ever wanted a puppy. It was pretty heart breaking! One night there was alot of barking and yelping going on in his yard. So once he left my boyfriend and I went over to his place to peak through the fence and we where horrified by the living conditions of the dogs! Then there was Callisto! She was shivering and scared in a plastic barrel and had her mouth duck tapped shut! Blood was over most of her body. Bite marks over her face. She was just skin and bone, and only 2 months old! She was being used as a bait dog. I couldn't leave her there so I took her home with me. don't regret doing that! Shes helped me open my eyes to other pit bulls. Owning her help me to understand the other pits better because I now know that most of them are big lovable goofs who just want love and playtime!! I love this breed and I hope more and more people start to feel the same way we Pit Bull people do!!

What are some of your favorite things people have said about your pit bull?

"My dog would never lay down in a bath tub like that!!!" Callisto is a really nice dog who loves to meet new people and other dogs. She is extremely out going! My boyfriend is a semi truck driver, and just recently Callist and I have joined him on the road. I'll tell you that Callisto acts like its nothing! The loudness doesn't bother her, the bumpiness doesn't bother her, nothing does! Shes such a well rounded easy going "Im up for anything" kinda dog. I love that about her! Shes very smart and I love her to death. I think people can see that when they see the two of us together. When ever we meet someone new they always walk away either laughing or smiling because of the joy that she brings to people. I get happy when I show people the tricks that Callisto can do! She knows how to: Sit, Stay, Dance, Back Up (turn around) Sit like a lady, Raise the roof, roll over, play dead, moon walk (scoots backwards) Shake, high five, super high five (both paws) Speak, and Search! I can hide a toy or hers and she will search for hours until she finds it! Also Callisto is an artist!!! You can see her painting in my pictures!

What do you think is the best way to fight Breed Specific Legislation?

Education. Showing that my dog is a good dog. Power to unite all pit bull owners and become one to show the ones that are uneducated about this breed that not all pit bulls are like the ones shown in the headlines. With proper training, socializing, education and being responsible, a pit bull can be the most loving, caring, loyal dog you'll ever have. You'll have a friend for live. You'll have a dog that can touch other's hearts and lives. In the end when the good word is spread, then I can rest easy and say "that was well worth it". Like that saying goes.... "Blame the deed, not the breed" I think thats ever so true!

Isn't it so cool how open & up for anything our pittys are! Cleo love any kind of ride, the car, truck, boat. She's not real keen on our swimming pool, I think she likes knowing where the ground is, but she wade out in a lake & go far enough to swim, just on her terms.
